I can't record a payment on an invoice
Why Record Payment is missing or refuses the amount, and what to do.
| Record Payment is not on the row | Record Payment is offered on issued invoices with money owing. A Draft needs sending first (or Mark as Sent, if the client already has it). Reopen a cancelled invoice that is really owed (Reopen Invoice). A paid one has nothing left to record; choose Payment History to see what was recorded. |

| The client paid a draft I delivered by hand | On the draft's row, open More actions and choose Mark as Sent. Nothing is emailed. Then choose Record Payment. |
| That is more than the … still outstanding on this invoice. | A payment is at most the balance. Check the amount. If part of the money is for a different invoice, record each part on its own invoice. |
| This invoice is cancelled — reopen it before recording a payment. | Choose Reopen Invoice, then record the payment. |
| Enter how much was received. | Type the amount; the grey figure in the box is only a hint. |
| The payment is there but the bank line is not matched | Match the bank line to the invoice in Banking instead of recording it twice. |
| I recorded it twice | In Payment History, an owner or admin chooses the bin icon next to the extra payment. |
| There is no bin icon next to a card payment | A card payment that came through Stripe is a record of money that really arrived, so it stays. To give it back, use Refund a Card Payment. |
