The client says their portal link does not open
What This link is not valid means, and how to send a working link.
If a client opens their portal link and sees Link not found and This link is not valid. It may have been replaced — ask for a new one, the link they have is no longer the current one. This happens when the link was revoked.
- In the menu on the left, choose Clients.
- On the client's row, open the More actions menu (the three dots) and choose Client Portal Link. If the old link was revoked, a new one is made now.
- Choose Email It to send it to the client, or Copy Link to send it yourself.
- Check the client copied the whole link. A link cut short in an email is also not valid; Email It avoids this.
- If the portal opens but shows no Pay buttons, card payments are not set up, Let this client pay by card is off on those invoices, or the invoice is Disputed or Dispute Lost (card payment is paused while a card payment on it is in dispute).
- If an invoice is missing, check it is not still a draft and has not been cancelled; those stay private.
- If a client opens the portal many times in a few minutes, they may be asked to wait a little before trying again.
