Plans and price

What does Free include, and for how long?

Free is free for as long as you use it — it is not a trial. It includes up to 3 team members, unlimited invoices, quotes, clients and products, your logo and colours on every document, card payments on your invoices, payment reminders and receipts, 10 receipt or bill scans a month, 5 bank-statement imports a month, profit & loss, balance sheet, trial balance and a sales-tax summary, 1 GB of attachment storage and email support.

What is the difference between Business and Enterprise?

Business ($9 a month) removes the limits: unlimited people, scans and statement imports, bank feeds for up to 5 banks, sending from your own email domain, recurring invoices, split matching, the full report pack with Excel export, 10 GB of storage and priority email support. Enterprise (from $29 a month) is for a business that needs something built for the way it works: custom features switched on for your workspace alone, partner profit-sharing and draws, up to 30 banks, 50 GB of storage, and help moving your books in. Enterprise is set up by conversation — use the Contact page.

Is there a discount for paying yearly?

Yes. Business is $97.20 a year, which is 10% less than twelve monthly payments. You choose monthly or yearly when you upgrade, and can see both on the pricing page.

Is GST/HST charged on the subscription?

Where Todah is registered to collect it, sales tax for your province is added at checkout and shown before you pay. Your receipt from Stripe shows the tax line.

How do I upgrade, downgrade or cancel, and what happens to my data?

Settings → Plan & billing. Upgrading takes effect the moment payment goes through, and you receive an email listing every feature you now have and where to find it. Cancelling is done from the same place (Manage billing); your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, then the workspace moves to Free. Nothing is deleted — your invoices, bills, clients and reports stay exactly as they are; only the Free limits apply again.

How much storage do I get?

1 GB on Free, 10 GB on Business and 50 GB on Enterprise (more on request). Storage is used by the files you attach to invoices and bills and by scanned receipts. Settings → Plan & billing shows how much you are using.

Switching to Todah

Can I import my books from another bookkeeping tool or a spreadsheet?

Not automatically yet. Bank statements can be imported on every plan (CSV, PDF or a photo, in Banking). Clients, products, invoices and bills are entered in Todah, and the numbering settings let you carry on from the invoice and quote numbers your clients already know. Enterprise includes hands-on help moving your books in; if you are on another plan and have a lot of history, write to us before you start.

Will my clients get emails when I bring in old invoices?

No. Client emails — payment reminders and receipts — are off for every new workspace until you switch them on, so entering last year's invoices never sends anyone a reminder. When your books are up to date, the card on your dashboard (or Settings → Getting paid → Reminders & receipts) turns them on.

Can I keep my invoice numbers?

Yes. Settings → Books & tax → Numbering lets an owner or admin set the prefix and the next number for invoices and for quotes, so the sequence continues from where your old system left off. Todah refuses a setting that would issue a number you already have.

Getting paid

How do card payments work, and what do they cost me?

Settings → Getting paid → Set up card payments opens a payment account for your business with Stripe, who ask for your business details, a piece of ID and the bank account your money should land in. From then on every invoice you send carries a Pay button. A Canadian card costs 2.9% + 60¢ a payment all in: Stripe's 2.9% + 30¢ and Todah's 30¢ a payment — no percentage on top. It comes out of each payment as it is taken; Settings → Getting paid shows the exact figure for any amount. Nothing is charged when nobody pays you.

When does the money arrive?

Stripe pays it into the bank account you gave them on its standard schedule; the very first payout can take up to a week while the account is new, and after that it is daily. The Express dashboard (Settings → Getting paid → Open Stripe dashboard) shows every payout.

What does my client see, and do they need an account?

A page with your name and logo showing the invoice and a Pay button. No account, no sign-up: they enter a card and are done. They receive a receipt from you by email, and the invoice shows Paid in your workspace a few seconds later.

How do refunds work?

You refund from your Stripe dashboard (Settings → Getting paid → Open Stripe dashboard → Payments → the payment → Refund). Todah records the reversal, marks the invoice Refunded so everyone can see the money went back, and emails your client a refund notice. Card-processing and platform fees are not refundable, and every invoice that offers card payment says so.

Can I add the card fee to my customer's bill?

In Canada only partly, and in Quebec not at all: a surcharge is capped at 2.4% or your actual cost, whichever is lower, and the card networks need 30 days' notice. Todah does not add surcharges. What you can do is turn card payment off for one invoice (large jobs you would rather be paid by transfer) and leave it on for the rest.

Banking

Which banks can I connect, and what can Todah do with the connection?

Bank feeds (Business and Enterprise) connect through Plaid to Canadian and US banks. Todah reads transactions and balances from the chequing, savings and credit-card accounts you choose, so they can be matched to your invoices and bills. It cannot move money, and it never sees your bank password — you sign in on your bank's own page. Two-step sign-in must be on before you connect.

How do I disconnect a bank?

Banking → Bank feeds → Disconnect. Todah tells Plaid to remove the connection and deletes the access token the same moment. Lines already imported stay in your books.

Security and data

Where is my data stored?

Todah's database and uploaded files are stored in Canada (Montreal). The application servers that process your requests are in the United States. The privacy policy describes exactly what that means and who our providers are.

Who at Todah can see my books?

Support staff can open your workspace only to help you, and every such visit is written to your Audit log, which owners and admins can read. No other customer can ever see your data: separation is enforced by the server and the database on every request.

Can I turn on two-step sign-in?

Yes, on every plan: Settings → Account & security → Two-step sign-in, with any authenticator app. You get recovery codes to keep somewhere safe. It is required before connecting a bank.

Can I export my data, or delete my account?

Settings → Account & security → Export gives you everything as files you can keep. Delete workspace on the same page removes it, cancels any subscription and disconnects any banks.

Your account

Can my team use it, and what can each person do?

Team → Add person. The owner created the workspace and cannot be removed. Admins manage people, banking and settings. Members do the day-to-day work and cannot see Banking, Team or the Audit log. Free includes 3 people; Business and Enterprise have no limit.

Can invoices go out from my own email address?

On Business and Enterprise, yes: Settings → Email → Send from your own domain shows two DNS records to add at your domain provider; once they are verified your documents leave from your address. On Free they are sent from Todah's address with your name and your reply-to.

Is there a phone app?

An iPhone and Android app exists and is being tested by a small group; it is not published for everyone yet. Everything works in the browser on a phone in the meantime.

How do I get help?

Email support@todah.ca, or use the Contact page. A person replies by email; Business and Enterprise messages are answered first. Most answers are also in the Help centre.

Still stuck? Write to us or email support@todah.ca — a person replies, usually within a working day. The FAQ covers plans, prices and the questions people ask before they sign up.
