Ageing: who owes you, who you owe, and for how long
Business and up
Unpaid invoices and unpaid bills sorted by how many days past due they are, and how to export them.
Ageing (also spelled aging) sorts everything still unpaid by how late it is. Receivables Aging covers money clients owe you; Payables Aging covers money you owe suppliers. Accountants ask for both at year end.
- In the menu on the left, choose Reports.
- Choose Receivables & Payables, then Ageing.
- Read the line of totals at the top of each card, then the list underneath, most overdue first.
- To keep a copy, pick Excel, CSV or PDF in Export Format and choose Export.
Good to know: Ageing shows what is unpaid today, counted in days from today. The period buttons do not change it.
The totals line
| Current | Not yet due, or no due date. |
|---|---|
| 1–30 | 1 to 30 days past the due date. |
| 31–60 | 31 to 60 days past due. |
| 61–90 | 61 to 90 days past due. |
| 90+ | More than 90 days past due. These are the ones to chase hardest. |
| Total | Everything still unpaid. |
The list
| Number | The invoice or bill number. |
|---|---|
| Name | The client or vendor. |
| Due | The due date. |
| Days | Days past the due date. A minus number means it is not due yet, by that many days. |
| Balance | What is still owed: the total minus payments already recorded, so a part-paid invoice or bill shows only what is left. |
- Receivables Aging includes every sent invoice that is not Paid or Cancelled.
- Payables Aging includes every bill that is not Paid: Outstanding, Partially Paid and Overdue bills, each at what is still owing on it.
- The export has one part for receivables and one for payables, each with its list followed by the totals.
