Payouts: when card money reaches your bank
Card payments go into your Stripe balance and Stripe pays them out to your bank account. Here is where to see your payouts and what to do if they are on hold.
A payout is Stripe sending the money from your card payments to your bank account. Todah does not hold your money at any point: the payment is made on your own Stripe account, and Stripe pays it out.
What happens to a card payment
- Your client pays the invoice by card.
- Stripe takes its fee and Todah's fee out of the payment.
- The rest goes into your Stripe balance, and Todah marks the invoice paid.
- Stripe pays your balance into the bank account you gave it during setup, on Stripe's payout schedule.
See your payouts
- In the menu on the left, choose Settings, then the Payments tab.
- Choose Open Stripe Dashboard. Your Stripe dashboard opens in a new browser tab.
- There you can see each payment, each payout and when it is expected, and change the bank account your payouts go to.
Only the owner or an admin can open the Stripe dashboard from Todah.
Payouts are still pending
If Settings → Payments says "Every invoice you send now carries a Pay button, though payouts are still pending with Stripe", your clients can pay you and Stripe is holding your payouts until it has what it needs. Usually Stripe needs one more detail, such as identity verification or a bank account. Open Stripe Dashboard shows what it is asking for. When you have dealt with it, choose Refresh Status.
Matching payouts in Banking
If you connect or import your bank account in Todah, a Stripe payout appears as a deposit. The invoices it pays are already marked paid by Todah, so do not match it to those invoices or record those payments a second time. Instead, choose Match on the deposit, open the Categorise tab, set This Line Is to Card payout, and save. The deposit is then accounted for without being counted as income again.
Good to know: Payout timing, holds and the payout schedule are decided by Stripe. For questions about a specific payout, use the help inside your Stripe dashboard.
